In the Beginning-An Introduction to Quilt Making
Start your quilting journey with me in this fun, supportive and encouraging series. This series of six 2-1/2 hour classes will provide a firm foundation of the basic elements of quilt making. We will make six simple blocks and will cover fabric choices and color, tools, accurate rotary cutting and machine piecing, and all the other supporting skills needed to have a successful start. If you know how to sew a straight seam, then you are qualified to join in! My goal is to eliminate frustration and intimidation and encourage you to enjoy this time-honored art form. Curves and Feathers- A Free Motion Class
If you have some experience free motion quilting and you would like to move up to the next level, then come join me and learn how to do “Curves and Feathers”. I will provide an encouraging and supportive environment to learn these gorgeous motifs. This is a free motion quilting class for those that would like to learn to do very free-form and fun quilting motifs with very little marking. In the “curves” portion of the class I will teach you how to do a beautiful filigree-type of motif that is beautiful and easy to do-you haven't seen this type of motif on quilts before. In the “feathers” portion of this class I will teach you how to do the beautiful, curvy, feminine feathers that you see on some of the finest quilts-without the use of stencils. Electric Quilt Version 7 Basics
This class will familiarize participants with the Electric Quilt 7 Application for the design and construction of any size quilt. Instruction will focus on how to use the software tools provided by the application to create and construct quilts of various sizes and designs. You will learn how quilt projects are created and saved; how quilts and quilt blocks are created and manipulated; how to add, modify and print quilt blocks; how to use EQ7's built in help and manual; and, how to get help directly from Electric Quilt. Students who do not already have EQ7 on their laptop running Windows Vista or later, may have a "limited use" version installed that will be activated for the class. You must notify Skip by September 24th if you would like to take advantage of this offer. Registered students will receive a 15% discount on EQ products purchased from Shared Stitches! Introduction to Free Motion Quilting
If you would like to learn to free motion quilt in a supportive and fun atmosphere, then join Jenny and learn the skills that will enable you to begin quilting your own projects at home with your home machine. Free motion quilting allows you to work directly on your own projects with little or no marking and no stencils. We will begin working on paper and make lots of mistakes there - then we will begin to play on fabric samples with confidence. This is not as hard as you think! More Free Motion Quilting with Trapunto
If you have already taken a free motion quilting class and want to take your skills a bit further, then this is the class for you! This class will further your free motion skills and add another technique - trapunto. Trapunto, or “stuffed quilting”, creates a raised, puffy surface which makes your quilting pop - see the blue sample in the shop! It creates an elegant look that you can add to any quilt or wearable piece. If you would like to further your free motion skills and add this unique look to your quilts, join me to learn this elegant technique. It’s a lot easier than you think because you start your work with a marked stencil. Then you get to fill the area around the trapunto with the free motion motif of your choice. Finish Your Block-of-the-Month BOM Quilt
You've made your 9 blocks – now what??? Using the reversible quilt technique, we will quilt each block individually with your walking foot and straight line quilting.
